What should I set my portable oven on?

I really like to cook but I am renting a room from someone with no kitchen privileges. I bought a portable oven and a camping stove for use and I already have a microwave. The question is, should I sit the oven on top of the wood fixture I've got holding all my kitchen stuff or will it burn the place down? Should I make some sort of metal holder, or....?
