Mr. Heater MRHF273100 is for outdoor use only. This is a radiant heater which means that it heats objects, including people, that are located directly in its directional path. That's good because you can focus the heat where it's needed. There are three settings from 8,000 BTU to 14,000 BTU per hour. The heater shuts off automatically if the flame goes out. Mounts directly to a 20 pound propane tank so you get lots of heat output per use. It's still light enough to cart around to where you need it. It burns clean, and creates no odor, smoke or soot. There's no maintenance, no wicks or anything like that.
The Coleman Blackcat Heater is designed to provide you with comfortable warmth indoors or in a tent. The electronic ignition allows for quick and easy matchless lighting and the compact legs integrate into the collar for easy storage. The BlackCat's 3,000 BTU output will operate for up to seven hours on one 16.4 ounce cylinder of propane, which are available almost everywhere, including your local grocery store. It works by a chemical reaction between a meshy platinum filter and the burning propane gas, so while there's no obvious propane smell and no open flame, there's still a very hot surface that could catch objects on fire if they are placed directly in front of it for too long. FYI, when you first light it, you may indeed see an igniting flame, but that is just upon start up. Once the starting flame vanishes, put your hand gently over the heater - if you feel the warmth, you know you've started it successfully.
The Coleman ProCat Portable Catalytic Propane Heater with Electronic Ignition is a 3,000 BTU output, one burner propane camp heater that provides consistent heat for sports & outdoors activities without the danger of open flames. The portable heater moves the heat efficiently with a fan, powered by two D batteries, for better circulation. The fan is not required and the unit will still provide heat if your batteries go dark but you will find that with the fan on this unit can heat a 4 person tent to comfortable in 10 or 15 minutes. The Coleman ProCat operates for up to eight hours on 16.4-ounce Coleman propane cylinder.
