(I called the fire department, took all necessary precautions, and everything is clear now)
I am aware of the DANGERS and DEATH that can result from a mistake like this - but I lack the knowledge and facts around it.
Can you help me make a list of reasons of how leaving the stove on can cause death, etc. Do you know how long it takes for propane to kill, how many it kills a year, combustion rates?
I'll take anything (ANYTHING) factual to scare this girl straight.

You aren’t even supposed to use a phone in the house to call the fire department.

Maybe you should call her one day when she is gone on her cell phone and tell her that you walked into the house and there was a weird smell and so you checked and it was on and you called 911 and they came and told you that the carbon monoxide was at 15% and if it was at all higher then that you could all be dead because there is no smell but the gas can get to you and kill you and the smell was the gas.

Why not search the web for past stories on gas explosions. I remember reading news clips about people falling asleep and having their apt or home blow up because of this. I have also read about people being awakened by their carbon monoxide detector, and they got out safely

check fire sites that will tell you im hoping neither of you smoke or you never have a friend round who smokes because theres on good reason, 2 breathing in them fumes for a few hours would make you ill but over night well im sure it wont be a pretty site in the morning, all i can say is what a stupid room mate you have she was not only en dangering her life but yours too also if a spark had flown from a electric socket in the night well they would have been picking up the peices in arizona, it only take a electrical fault (from yours or anyones apartment), a smoke, the turn on of the microwave, turn on the oven itself, the tele, video, dvd player, light switch, etc etc its so dangerous, and could you show her mine and everyone elses answers because mines only the starter theres going to be loads more on the band wagon with a lot better reasons

That happened to me once, the smell is like no other, one thing you can tell her is IF someone had lid a match or lighter, that place would have blown up.
