How high can be the load on the top of the car?

We are going camping with our little polo and need to put quite a few things on the car roof. Are there any regulations about what is the maximum height of the load? We know that weight shouldn't be more than 75kg.

What is the best small camper to pull with a passenger car and what is best campground? KOA? State parks?

    I don’t believe there is any restriction on height BUT if it is “deemed” to be dangerous (for example, a bed mounted vertically on the roof which would therefore raise the centre of gravity and reduce the cars stability) then you are liable to be pulled up by the police and penalised.
