Cars man. asked:
I need a knife to go camping, and I am looking to buy a folding knife. How can I tell if the knife is dull before I buy it? Or how can I test it to see if the blade is dull at home?
The kind I am looking to buy is like this:

Feel the blade with your thumb, making sure to rub perpendicular from the edge, so you don’t cut yourself, and if it is sharp, it will feel thin, and visa versa

uhm… cut a tomato, clean knife, cut something of the strength of a paper plate. If knife does not cut to satisfaction, sharpen until it does. NOTE: Do expect resistance even from sharp knife.
Also, if its dull, higher chance there will be small visible ridges along the blade.
