Cooking rice for so many people?

Hey hey hey asked:

I need to cook rice for 40 people and I can't use an oven or stove, I have only one outdoor burner that I'll be able to use.

I like things done really well and basicly as close to perfection as possible.

Does anyone have any recomendations of how to go about this? How much rice will I need? what kind? helpp!

Do it the same way as you would on a stove with the same quantity you would use normally. Heat is heat. You may not be able to control it as well as on a stove so watch it carefully.

Add chicken stock for added flavor.

Since you sound like a perfectionist, you could make it in advance and create a double boiler to reheat the rice.

I would put the cooked rice in a strainer or steamer bowl, and put it on a pot with water in the bottom. As the water boils it will steam the rice. Have a lid to cover. Take a spoon or spatula to turn the rice to make sure it is heated all the way through. This way you could perfectly cook and season the rice and simply reheat it at the time of service.

    Good luck!

Don’t know you will cook the other dishes with the rice or not? But basically one full of chinese bowl of rice can make 4 bowls of rice. Therefore you need 10 bowls of rice to cook for your 40 guests. But if you will cook some other dishes with your rice, I guess you need to lessen the amount of rice you plan to cook, cuz they will eat some other dishes and will be easily feeling full with less amount of rice.
Sorry I don’t know what the exact weight of rice you need to cook but all I know you need to scoop for 10 bowls of rice

Use a large rice cooker that will do up four cups of rice at a time. It will ensure the rice is cooked properly and that each batch is the same.
