Looking for some meal and snack ideas for camping. Things that are easily grilled or can be warmed over the fire. Thinking outside the box... Not hot dogs or hamburgers.

Think of things tasty, easy to prepare, and require little or no clean up.
Cook as much as you can at home and warm up at the site.
Pre bake potato in a microwave at home. These are easy to slice and warm up in a fry pan with seasonings. A wipe with a paper towel takes care of cleaning.
Place all raw meats in plastic bags loaded with seasonings so it will be easy to cook without getting a bunch of stuff out of a pantry.
Do as much camp site cooking as possible in large tin cans. A roast of meat can be placed on a “grid” of clean nails driven through the bottom rim and cover the top of the can with foil. Soups can be prepared in tin cans and will provide a quick hot snack while other food is in preparation.
Tortillas keep better than bread and can be stuffed with almost everything on hand.
Hope some of this helps you have a nice time and avoid heavy duty cooking and cleaning. Can others help with some of the chores?

Look at the top of the screen where it says Discover and click it then search your question, it`s asked at least a dozen times a week and you`ll find some really great answers there. Its a good resource.
Shish Kabobs are easy and great, prep them and skewer them at home put in a ziplock and fill the bag with a marinade. When you`re done eating them off the skewer throw the wooden skewer into the fire, quick cleanup.
For dessert I like to get the pillsbury (or store brand) crescent rolls that come in the tube. Buy a small can of apple pie fillingput some of the filling in the crescent and roll it up. Put it it an aluminum foil pouch with a little butter. Throw it on the coals and flip it over once. It`ll come out like personal apple pies.

The ideas presented so far are very good. Here are a few ideas that I have enjoyed on various camping trips.
A good and tasty dish is corn on the cob. You need corn with the husks still on them. Peel the husks back but don’t remove them. Remove as much silk as possible then coat the cob with butter. Sprinkle with salt and pepper or any other seasoning you like (I use creole seasoning for a bit of spice). Fold the husks back up over the cob and wrap the cob in 2 layers of foil. Place the cob on the coals for about 15-20 min, rotating every 5 min. When the corn is done, it is buttery, sweet, and oh, so good!
Another treat is candied apples. Take a Granny Smith apple and core out the middle (Don’t slice the apple, just cut a hole into the apple from the stem to the flower, removing the seeds and core). Plug the bottom of the hole with 1 Tbs of butter. Fill the hole with brown sugar and cinnamon, a dash of nutmeg and cloves if you like, and then cap the top of the hole with another Tbs of butter. Wrap in 2 layers of foil and cook on the coals for about 10-15 min. Longer will make it softer, shorter will keep it crispy. When it is done, the juices and butter have caused the sugar and spices to permeate the apple. Use a knife and fork to enjoy. Careful, It’s hot!
